Keep Away - Round 2

It's Lil Bit vs. Lil Bittier again. This game never gets old to them. My favorite part is when Dax shakes his head at June. We're going to have to get a bigger dog for Dax eventually.

Walking on Sunshine

This mama is walking on sunshine because my little man is finally WALKING!  Yeah!!! I am sooo proud.  This video is not great, but I'll bring you better ones tomorrow.  He's wobbly, but catching on fast.  He'll be running in no time.  Watch out!

Kick Back and Relax

This is how we roll these days in our stroller. Looks uncomfortable as hell, but he loved it.

Too Cool for School

In these pictures, Daxton is practing what I like to call the "give me money cause I'm so stink'n cute" pose.

So Many Firsts in One Day

Daddy is fishing in Alabama, so yesterday we went down to Columbus to spend the afternoon with Granddaddy.  It was Daxton's first time in Granddad's office, and you can see he wasted no time taking over the place.  In addition to flirting with all of the nurses, we found all kinds of good stuff to break and hide while Granddaddy finished seeing patients.

Then it was off to Dinglewood for Dax's first scramble dog.  I personally don't think the chili was up to par, but that didn't stop Dax from scarfing down half of mine and half of Granddaddy's.  Next time we'll get him his own.

The gorgeous weather was calling us to wet some lines at the country so we packed up a cooler, slathered on some suntan lotion, and set out to catch Dax's first fish.  We didn't catch any big ones, but we did catch a mess of small ones.  I'd say it was a successful trip.  Dax liked touching them and watching them flop in the well.  After awhile he decided to man the cooler and entertain himself in the ice.  I think he just like laying across the ice because he was so hot in his life jacket.

After that it was off to the River for a visit with Great Uncle Ronnie and Great Aunt Kathy and then to Hunter's Pub for his first fried lobster tail.  The boy loves lobster.  Why am I not surprised?  Dax ate something from everyone's plate. His tummy was so full his button was about to pop off his shorts.  As usual, he charmed the pants off the ladies... one lady even had to come over in the middle of her meal to talk to him.  I'm going to have to start beating these women off with a stick.  He's mine until he's at least 25 or 26 - maybe 30 if I can hold on to him that long.

You think after that long day we'd be done, but no... we had to stop at TK's for a nightcap.  Dax made a game of trying to trip unsuspecting customers with markers he threw on the floor.  He could have partied for hours thanks to the video game at the end of TK's bar, but we had to mosey on to Brette's house for a visit where Dax scored a real cell phone which has already come in very handy.  Thanks Brette!

Then it was off to GrandMouse's for the night.  Needless to say, Dax went down well after his bedtime without a peep and I'm pretty sure he dreamed of catching the big one.  It was a very good day.  We followed it with an awesome breakfast GrandMouse made this morning completely with Nantahala sausage and then headed home, bellies full once again.

The older you get, the less magical everyday activities become.  At thirty-three firsts are already few and far between.  I love sharing firsts with Daxton and I love sharing those with family.  Watching his face light up everytime he discovers something new makes everything a bit more exciting.  It's one of my favorite parts of being a parent.  You can't help but smile and think - life is good.

What a Difference a Year Makes

Today marks a year since Daxton's successful heart surgery. Bert and I were in Dallas most of the week. We left too early too see Dax Wednesday morning and arrived home after he had fallen asleep last night. It's the longest we've gone without seeing him and we missed him terribly. We were so anxious to see him this morning, I grabbed him from his crib when I heard him barely stir at 5am, showered him with hugs and kisses, and we all snuggled in our big bed till morning. He was just as happy to see us. I've never seen him smile bigger. You could see his mega-watt smile through the darkness - the best welcome home gift ever!
We celebrated the milestone by taking him to the Atlanta zoo and a new playground. It's amazing how far he's come since his surgery and we're so grateful. Thanks everyone for all of your love and support through it all. Sorry I only have a few pics from the zoo, but we were too busy checking out all the animals! He loved the petting zoo. It sure beat the heck out of being in the hospital. :)

Bubbles Bubbles Everywhere

It was so hot last Thursday we threw on some shorts and ran to Target to get some bubbles for a little outdoor fun. Dax liked blowing them and Junior liked chasing and eating them. Hank just liked hiding from them.

Weekend

The weather made getting out challenging this weekend, but we managed to have some good times. Here are some random pics from the weekend. We busted out the red wagon. It was so cold/windy, we had to bundle up. There is a Dax under that brown hat! Dad insisted on driving the ridiculously enormous race car grocery cart at Public even though we only had to get a few things. Those carts are nearly impossible to steer! Oh, and we had some fun with chocolate pudding.

Having fun with GrandMouse at HD1 haute doggery!
