4th of July Texas Style

It was weird not being on the water this year (I think for the first time ever), but we still had a great 4th of July!  We watched the Addison fireworks from a balcony last night and woke up this morning to attend the annual Highland Park parade.  We got to see fire truck, old classic cars, bands, horses, ponies, turtles, and all kinds of people and vehicles decked out for the 4th.  The parade ended in a park with all kinds of children's activities.  We sipped lemonade and scored some free watermelon for the afternoon.  Dax got to take his picture with a highly decorated officer and a nice little kid gave him a little flag to wave!    We returned home for a big brunch and nap, followed by an afternoon in the pool with cousin Emily Shea, her friend Laura, and boyfriend Cody.  Bert grilled dogs and hamburgers and we power-walked a couple blocks to the Dallas Country Club for their annual firework show.  Dax had a great seat and loved the show.  Now to get him back on schedule after staying up late two nights in a row!  Happy 4th everyone!!!
